This Post is part of a ‘Join in and Link Up’ Blog series which celebrates life’s little memories – come on in, the water’s fine (see below)!
With time and extensive therapy I have come to be able to admit to having shimmied my way into a spot of ivory taffeta on more than the one occasion.
I shall spare you the drama and emotional scarring of any nuptial events which may be less than…shall we say, current. To be honest, those of you with a delicate disposition are probably not here anyway, but I shall stick to the story of Mr Lobster (non-fans of ‘Friends’, look here for an explanation).
There are three stories here.
One – a sick child. A temperature of 40 degrees and the need to be carried throughout the entire ceremony (we were all wet with sweat by the ‘I do’s')
Two – the bringing together of two families as one. This is a delicate and vital journey involving 4 children separated by age, blood and distance. Marriage is an event which takes on a new significance in these circumstances, not to be undertaken in haste. It will be the most important accomplishment of our lives, if we manage to achieve harmony.
Three – love. Within our walls we have it in spades. Children come and go, there is hugging and laughter and they are all cherished. History may always be the elephant in the room, but above all else we have love.
Long may it continue to reign over our Family Stories. Oh, and Mr Lobster is one in a zillion.
