Old Valentines (‘Life’s a Journey’ nostalgia Link-Up, week 54)

Welcome to our weekly series of ‘link-up’ Posts which reflect on life’s journey, old memories and family stories (see below for more info).

‘Tis the week or luurv and with nostalgia (as ever) in the air, I wondered how we might celebrate Valentine’s Day SaveEveryStep-style.

So here is a little taste of Vintage love for you.

I was never personally very lucky as a school girl in the Valentine’s cards stakes. Quality over quantity is better, right? I’d like to think I discarded the backlog of old Valentines which hung around the house in boxes, but in truth there weren’t any (shame).

The adult years were a little more fruitful, once I’d shaken off my ugly duckling, but the kids have always proved to be a rich seam of Valentine’s love. I dug this one out of a box yesterday by way of proof. Courtesy of no.1 son around 2006.

But here are some of my vintage faves, awful in their cheesiness, cringeworthy in their naive non-politically correctness, and funny in their crudeness.

  2. I was not very lucky for a good part of my teenage years either… Cannot complain now, though! ;o)
Your vintage cards made me smile, and the one from your son is just precious. xx

  3. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now
each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment.

Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
    Thanks a lot!
